CUT/SEW Cosplay Studio
Join us at ColossalCon North for the CUT/SEW Cosplay Studio – a full weekend of hands-on workshops designed to help you dive deeper into your craft. From sewing and embroidery to mending, embossing, and more, each session offers a chance to build real, usable skills in a welcoming, project-based environment.
Every workshop is led by industry pros like Broadway costumers Aissac.Cos and Aobittybaby, all of whom bring real-world experience and expert-level knowledge straight to the classroom. You’ll work with high-quality materials in a fully equipped space, and walk away with a finished project you can be proud of.
And don’t miss Crafter Party, CUT/SEW’s signature late-night event – a relaxed, come-and-go space where attendees can hang out, try cozy craft kits, and connect with fellow makers. This year’s event also features our Makers Market, a free fabric and cosplay supply swap where you can take what you need and leave what you don’t – a creative solution for a post-Joann world. Whether you’re stitching with friends or just vibing, it’s the perfect way to unwind after hours. Pre-registration is required for all classes and space is limited to keep things small, hands-on, and personal, so grab your tickets early and come make something amazing with us! What is Being Offered:
The ColossalCon North Cosplay Studio, presented by CUT/SEW, is a weekend-long educational space dedicated to hands-on cosplay learning. This specialized programming track includes a full schedule of workshops, and demos designed to help attendees expand their crafting skills across a wide range of disciplines.
The Cosplay Studio spans two dedicated classrooms, each outfitted for a specific type of making:
- A machine sewing room, fully stocked with Bernette Academy sewing machines for sewing-focused classes
- A craft and prop room equipped with foam, resin, heat guns, and more, all of which transforms after hours into our cozy, come-and-go evening event: Crafter Party
All Workshops Include:
- All supplies and materials needed to complete a take-home project
- Hands-on instruction from experienced makers and working professionals
- Small class sizes to ensure one-on-one help and support
- A focus on approachable, beginner-friendly techniques — with room to level up!
Workshops require a small materials fee and advance registration, with limited seating available for each session.
Machine Specials All Weekend
Interested in taking home the same sewing machine you’ve been using in class? Thanks to our partners at Bernette USA, all Cosplay Studio sewing machines will be available for purchase directly from the con — either on the spot or shipped to your home. Deep discounts and generous payment plans will be available all weekend long at the CUT/SEW booth in the Dealer’s Hall.
What is Crafter Party?
Crafter Party is CUT/SEW’s signature late-night event — a relaxed, welcoming space for attendees to wind down, make something fun, and connect with fellow cosplayers and crafters of all disciplines. Guests can drop in anytime throughout the night, shop pre-made craft kits, and try their hand at cozy, beginner-friendly projects at their own pace.
It’s a laid-back, no-pressure alternative to the usual after-hours con scene — whether you’re stitching with friends, chatting with instructors, or just enjoying the creative vibe.
This year’s Crafter Party will also feature our Makers Market — a freecycle-style fabric and materials swap where attendees can take what they need and leave what they don’t. It’s a great way to clear out your stash, score fresh supplies, or just try something new without spending a dime.
With major fabric stores closing their doors, the Makers Market is a perfect chance to grab fabric, trims, and cosplay materials you might not have easy access to anymore — and put them to use in a low-pressure, creative space.
